Here are two of the best questions to ask yourself before making the final decision of where to take your engagement photos are-

1- Are there places in Birmingham (or wherever!!!) that hold sentiment to us and our relationship that we could use as a setting for some or all of the photos?

2- Or is this spot we’re looking at somewhere we would actually hangout/enjoy together? I think photos in random settings can be so so dreamy, but there’s an extra level of dimension and depth and value that can be added to the imagery when the engagement photos are captured in a way that represents your relationship/season of engagement. Just ask yourself- “Why here? And will this spot add to the genuine telling of us?”.

Obviously, your photographer can work with you to help find your perfect spot. Just think through it and talk through it. Your images will feel less dated and more like memories if they hold value to who you are as a duo… Plus, oftentimes it can add a level of comfort during your session that only furthers true story telling.

I adore Sydney + Jake, and I’m so glad we were able to do there engagement photos around Highland Park and Caldwell Park where they got engaged and have spent some quality time together. I’m pretty sure these two have the most genuine, kind souls, and I’m so so looking forward to their October wedding at Swann Lake Stables.
